Giving back and paying it forward

October 20, 2016
INVISION encourages staff to pay it forward in the communities where we live and work, and they’ve been doing just that. Take a look at different ways our staff has recently given back to help move our communities forward.
Habitat for Humanity

For this year’s Habitat Day, our Waterloo and Des Moines teams both spent time on a local Habitat for Humanity project, helping the organization make a difference in a family’s future. Instead of using sketch book, scales and BIM models, our staff put on their work boots and swung hammers and paint brushes on the job.

Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS)

At the YESS Human Foosball Tournament, the INVISION team participated in support of this non-profit’s mission to keep children safe and families together a variety of services that care for kids. The team didn’t take home the trophy, but they did spend quality time on the court that went a long way in helping youth.

Expanding Your Horizons

INVISION once again participated in the recent Expanding Your Horizons event at University of Northern Iowa, where we hosted a workshop for 32 girls and showed them how to think like an architect. This event focuses on motivating young women’s interest in STEM-related careers. (Or should we say STEAM!)

Meals from the Heartland

Staff also volunteered at Meals from the Heartland, helping to package 6,480 meals in just one shift. The organization’s annual hunger fight is a four-day event where 5 million meals are packaged and delivered to those in need, both locally and internationally.
