AP Lofts
Des Moines, IA

One of the early loft conversions in downtown Des Moines, this rehabilitation project turned two previously abandoned structures into 70 market-rate apartments, following the standards for Historic Preservation. The design highlights the building’s former life as a warehouse, offering distinctive living in light-filled units with downtown views and close proximity to a re-engineered entertainment district.

Renovating old buildings with the younger generation in mind.

On this project, it was fun to navigate the complexities of historical preservation to create a vintage-chic space that meets the needs of the city’s growing population of young professionals. Their quest for a distinctive urban living experience made discovery and programming fun for the team. They incorporated features like a rooftop terrace with built-in barbecues and parking in the basement and on portions of the first floor.
