Muscatine Fire Station
Muscatine, IA

Muscatine’s aging, small fire station was not enough to handle an increase in service area, so INVISION was brought in to create a new design that accommodates immediate and future growth. Throughout, typical materials from the area were utilized in a non-typical way for detailing, resulting in refined texture on the exterior of the building.

Site challenges were no match for this team.

Unique site constraints on three sides proved to be challenging when developing programmatic spaces. The team worked together to devise a solution that positioned the apparatus bay nearest the railroad to act as a buffer to the living area. The design team worked to integrate living and work spaces throughout, yet clearly designate public, private and living spaces to provide security.
