Expanding care, service and community.

The Discovery process revealed that this critical access hospital needed an expansion that strengthens their primary care network, creates a central hub for healthcare in the community and will improve the care team’s efficiency, collaboration and value to its patients. Clarity became a strong theme, from site access with a new main entrance and wayfinding throughout, to departmental arrangement, clinic functions and operations. As a medical planner, I helped the hospital and design team work through critical opportunities to efficiently and strategically deliver optimal care and patient experience.

In addition to patient needs, the expansion was designed to serve visitors and the community as a whole. With a new multi-purpose room, wellness and education center, outdoor garden and public dining experience, Story County Medical Center will offer a heightened level of care and community.
