Microsoft envisioned its Overland Park workplace as a casual, human-centered environment with the comfort and familiarity of coming home. The design brings a hospitality-level experience to the workplace through rich textures, layered materials, and residential-inspired details that move beyond the traditional office environment.

With frequent client visits, the guest experience plays an important role in the design. A welcoming lobby and adjacent breakout space draw inspiration from a hotel lobby, providing comfortable settings for informal meetings, conversation, and work. Throughout the office, technology is integrated into the environment to support both employees and visitors without dominating the experience.

Natural materials, exterior views, live plants, and preserved moss feature walls bring elements of the outdoors into the workplace. Together with comfortable furnishings and a variety of gathering spaces, these elements create the relaxed character of a neighborhood café while supporting the technology and functionality expected of a Microsoft workplace.
