Sun Life consolidated two Wellesley, Massachusetts, offices into a single workplace organized around an activity-based working model. Completed in multiple phases while employees remained in the building, the renovation provides a variety of settings for focused work, collaboration, meetings, and respite throughout the day.
The first floor welcomes employees and visitors with conferencing spaces and the “Sun,” a central hub that serves as the heart of activity upon arrival. Extending from the hub, a 6,000 SF outdoor “porch” provides additional places to work, socialize, gather around a fire, or simply step outside during the workday.
Throughout the workplace, a range of shared and individual settings gives employees greater choice in how and where they work. Together, the central hub, outdoor porch, and flexible work areas establish a shared identity for the consolidated office and create a workplace employees can experience in different ways throughout the day.
