Commerce Bank challenged the design team to create a workplace that would appeal to the next generation of IT professionals while reflecting the energy and innovation they bring to the organization. As part of a five-floor renovation at 922 Walnut, the 11th floor — largely unchanged since its original 1998 design — was transformed into a contemporary workplace that supports both recruitment and the evolving needs of Commerce Bank’s IT teams.

Bold color, open ceilings, and warm wood accents give the space a distinct identity, while low-profile workstations maintain openness and allow natural light from the building perimeter to reach deep into the floor. Private offices are positioned along the interior, preserving perimeter daylight and views for shared work areas.

Collaboration and gathering spaces are located at key intersections throughout the floor, creating natural opportunities for employees to connect, exchange ideas, and work together. The result is an energetic, flexible workplace that pairs Commerce Bank’s established identity with an environment designed for the people shaping its future.
